Snapchat Gaming, Gambling and Lotteries Ad Policy
Snapchat gambling ads "must be pre-approved by Snap", and advertisers must prove they hold the licenses each territory requires. The policy names no countries, so our matrix leaves all four markets unconfirmed.
Gambling ads "must be pre-approved by Snap" through its Advertising of Gambling Services Application.
Advertisers must "comply with all applicable licensing or registration requirements" and provide proof.
Ads must not target people "under the legal gambling age in the territory where the ad will run."
Ads for gambling tipster services are not allowed.
Pre-approval and licensing
Snap's Gaming, Gambling and Lotteries policy says gambling ads "must be pre-approved by Snap." Advertisers apply through Snap's Advertising of Gambling Services Application and agree to the Snap Gambling Terms. They must also "comply with all applicable licensing or registration requirements" and provide proof of a current license or registration.
The policy sets two targeting limits. Ads must not target, or be likely to appeal particularly to, "people under the legal gambling age in the territory where the ad will run." And ads must not "Target territories where the advertiser is not authorized to operate." Snap ties the age to local law rather than setting one number, which is why the age restrictions guide matters here.
Content Snap does not allow
Ads that "Glorify gambling or misrepresent the benefits of participation."
Ads that "Encourage individuals to play beyond their means."
Ads for gambling tipster services, meaning information about odds or offers from gambling operators.
The tipster ban is broader than it first looks. A page that lists odds or operator offers can fall inside it, which affects affiliates and comparison sites. See the affiliate advertising guide.
Status in our four markets
The policy names no countries. Without an official statement of which markets accept gambling ads, each country stays at "Unknown / verify official policy".
Not for tipster services. Snap's policy bans ads promoting gambling tipster services, meaning information about odds or offers from gambling operators.
What minimum age does Snapchat apply to gambling ads?
The legal gambling age in the territory where the ad runs. Snap does not set its own number, so use the local age, such as 19 for Ontario iGaming sites.
